LENDING SUPPORT SPECIALIST (FULL TIME / IN-OFFICE)
Job Title: Lending Support Specialist
​
The Lending Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting SDC’s lending operations and overall loan processing functions. This position provides comprehensive technical assistance to the Business Development Officers (BDOs) in all stages of the SBA 504 loan process—from application through closing.

•    The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in commercial lending or loan processing, with a preference for candidates familiar with SBA 504 or 7(a) loan programs. This role is perfect for an experienced Lending Assistant, Loan Processor, or similar position within a financial institution seeking professional growth within a mission-driven organization.

This is a full-time, in-office position with minimal work from home ability to be worked Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Salary will be based on experience and range from $60,000 to $65,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and technical support to BDOs in all aspects of loan packaging, processing, documentation, and closing.
  • Assist in the preparation and collection of required SBA 504 loan documentation, ensuring compliance with SBA and SDC policies.
  • Communicate through BDOs with borrowers, lenders, and third-party vendors (e.g. CDC attorneys, Auditors, Environmental Representatives, or Tax Transcript Representatives) to obtain necessary information and updates.
  • Maintain accurate loan files and track status through approval, closing, and funding. (Digital and Hardcopies for audit and compliance purposes)
  • Input and maintain loan data within internal databases and SBA systems.
  • Review and verify loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with the BDOs to ensure timely loan documentation, submissions, and closings.
  • Be familiar with financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, appraisals, environmental reports, and other required SBA documentation.
  • Prepare internal reports and order external reports as required by SBA and SDC.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the lending team’s efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lending Assistant, Loan Processor, or similar position within a financial institution.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office technology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal staff, lending partners, and clients.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in-office at the Mountain Brook, AL location.
Preferred:
  • Experience with SBA lending programs (504 or 7(a)).
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other related field.
  • Familiarity with SBA SOP 50 10 8 and SBA loan keying systems such as E-TRAN or Ventures.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 (Based on experience level)
