✰SDC SPOTLIGHT ✰ Sarah Chambliss: Credit Underwriter

This month's Spotlight is our newest hire, Sarah Litton Chambliss. Sarah began working with SDC in March of this year. She has three prior years of commercial and community banking experience specializing in loans, deposits, and customer services. She is currently a credit underwriter here at SDC and she also manages our social media and marketing efforts. She is from Tallassee, AL where she graduated from Tallassee High School. She also has a BS and an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). Although she has only been with SDC for 9 months, she has grown quickly with us and always has a positive attitude in the office.

❂Sarah recently changed her last name as she married her husband, Samuel, on October 8th of this year. The two got engaged at the beginning of this year and both moved to Birmingham for work shortly after. Sarah and Samuel met in 2019, and the rest is history. They do not have any kids or pets, but they do have a ZZ plant named Zoe that they treat like their child.

❂Her favorite food is Bolognese pasta and roasted vegetables with a glass of red wine. Some of her favorite things to do in her free time are spending time with her family and friends, traveling to different countries, being active outside and enjoying nature, and checking out cool spots for food and drinks.

❂She loves watching movies, reading books, singing, listening to music, and watching/attending sports games. Her favorite sport to watch is football, and she is an Alabama fan. Her husband is an Auburn fan, but they can still enjoy games together even if they’re rooting against the other’s team.

❂Sarah said, “My favorite thing about SDC is how much I learn every day. SDC is a place where everyone works toward a common goal. We all have a part we play in getting there, and if someone is out of the office, we’re able to shift around to help keep the process going. I love the transparency and being able to know more than just my own job duties. It helps me understand the full picture and the “why,” rather than just completing tasks and being confined to only my hired for job. It’s an atmosphere of education and opportunity, and I love that I get to be a part of it all.”

If you have any questions for Sarah or would like to speak with her more about the 504 Loan Program and what SDC can do to help your small business, she can be reached by telephone at (334) 244-1801 or by email at sarah@sdcinc.org.
